Day 1 - arriving in Italy

The first stop on our trip was Milan. We landed at Milan Malpensa and took the airport shuttle to the city center. From the city center we then took a taxi to our airbnb, which was located right next to the Duomo. As we arrived late, we checked into our airbnb and then went for a quick dinner before heading to bed - as we we're gonna get up super early to travel to Lake Como the next day. We ended up eating at Fratelli La Bufala, a Neapolitan pizza place close to where we stayed. Even though they're not rated super high on google, we thought that the margherita was good (not the best we had, but still good), and cheap. On our way to the restaurant, we even got a sneak peek of the Duomo.

Day 2 - Lake Como and the best tiramisu I had in Italy

The next day we got up at like 05:45 to catch an early train to Lake Como as we wanted to see as much as we could in one day. However, as there's a lot of pictures, information about where and how we bought tickets, how to get there, ferry timetables and so on, so I think the Lake Como trip deserves an own, dedicated post. Check out the next post to read about our day trip and get some tips and info.

After we got back from our day trip we were super tired and wanted to go for a nice meal close to our airbnb, and ended up at Velavevodetto al Duomo. My partner ordered lamb (which ended up being fried lamb sticks and not what he expected) so he was a bit disappointed, while I ordered a pasta dish, which I thought was good. For dessert, I ended up ordering a tiramisu, and that was probably the best tiramisu I had during our trip in Italy. It was a tiramisu with chocolate, and it was just amazing. I would absolutely recommend visiting the restaurant just for the tiramisu alone. YUM!

Day 3 - roaming the streets in Milan

Day three of our trip, or rather really our first and only full day in Milan, was spent just roaming the streets, shopping and eating food. We started our day by checking out (the outside of) the Duomo and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.

On the side of the Galleria, we found a place with really good sandwiches for breakfast, named G.B. Bar. The guys who worked there were also super sweet.

After breakfast we just spent most of the day walking around, shopping and relaxing. We were a bit tired already from the long travel day and then the long day in Lake Como. As we only really had one day in Milan, we didn't get to do a lot, and thought we'd just walk around and enjoy the city, rather than try to run from museum to museum. Because of this, I unfortunately also feel that this post won't be too exciting for most people.

In the evening we ended up eating dinner at a place named Ristorante Replay. My review of this restaurant is that it has a good location, nice interior and the staff were friendly. However, what really matters is the food - and they did not amaze us at all. The bread was of course good (hard to go wrong on that one), but other than that we were disappointed. The pasta had absolutely no taste. I ordered a blogonese, which tasted like water. Based on this, we decided to skip dessert there, and rather buy gelato at a gelateria. The restaurant also seemed like a very touristy place, so if you want good and authentic Italian food I would rather go somewhere else!

The next day was yet another travel day, and our next stop was Venice. Stay tuned for more!
